The Kid Whisperer Podcast Featuring Scott Ervin and Pat Kiely: Episode 11

I am a long-term sub for PE class. How do I manage some of this stuff in PE? My classes are either 20 minutes for younger kids or 45 minutes for HS. We have a lot of swearing/ foul language or screaming because a student isn't first in line. That then sets off others in the class for screaming, refusal to work, etc. It does escalate to kicking or hitting sometimes.
Basically I am correcting or dealing with a million little fires throughout the whole class. Sometimes I try to correct them, or ignore them. There is an aide in the class that can help with some behaviors. I tell them it affects their grade, because that is really all I can do. It is their choice to participate or not.
I am a parent of two amazing children. Lately, my amazing children are testing the boundaries of my patience. My boys respond well to "the look" or a simple statement such as "try again". My boys will adjust their behavior in the moment, 25 minutes will pass and the same behavior will happen. I worry I've now built a habit that is less than effective.
How many "looks" should be given before I try something more serious. Also, how do I up my parenting game to get longer-lasting results?
