The Kid Whisperer Podcast Featuring Scott Ervin and Pat Kiely: Episode 14
Topics in this episode include:
My 10-year-old got in big trouble at school yesterday for kicking another kid on the playground. The school is giving him a consequence (taking away recess and making him write an apology note). Should I give him a consequence at home, too, or just let the school handle it?
One of my second graders completely destroyed some books from our classroom library. I don't know when it happened, or how I didn't notice, but with 28 kids in the room, I can't be everywhere all the time. I want to teach the kids that they have to respect our belongings, but I have no idea who deserves the punishment. Should I give the whole class a consequence? If so, what should it be?
Is it ever okay to yell at your kid? I know you shouldn't do it constantly, but I do feel like it sometimes works to scare my kid into listening to me. My wife tells me I'm mean every time I yell. Am I wrong?
